About

Dr. Carrasco was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas where he attended St. Mary’s University, graduating with honors in biology.

He attended the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he received his medical degree and went on to complete an internship in internal medicine at the same institution.

Following his internship, Dr. Carrasco accepted a position as a dermatopharmacology clinical fellow at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

He was then recruited to complete a fellowship in New York City at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he supervised the clinical trials unit at the Mount Sinai Department of Dermatology.

Dr. Carrasco went on to complete his residency training in dermatology at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital.

During his fellowships and residency, he was a co-investigator in over 50 clinical trials. Also during this time period, Dr. Carrasco presented 12 posters at the American Academy of Dermatology, published over 25 scientific manuscripts in medical journals and wrote numerous book chapters.

In his second year of residency, he was awarded a Resident Educational Award by the Dermatology Foundation, and, consequently, was appointed chief resident during his senior year of training.

In 2007, Dr. Carrasco was nominated and chosen by the American Dermatological Association to be the Young Leadership Award Speaker, and then in 2008, Dr. Carrasco was chosen to be a member of the prestigious American Academy of Dermatology’s Leadership Forum.

In 2008, Dr. Carrasco decided to make Austin his permanent home where he founded Austin Dermatology Associates, which later merged with Sanova Dermatology in 2017.

He specializes in general medical, cosmetic, surgical, and nutritional dermatology.

When he is not working, Dr. Carrasco enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Alejandra Carrasco, and their three kids. He also enjoys time outdoors, hunting, traveling, horseback riding, polo, photography, and boating.
